Gorilla is a genus of great apes comprising two species, the eastern gorilla and the western gorilla, the largest living primates, with males reaching heights of 1.25 to 1.8 meters, weights of 68 to 227 kilograms and arm spans up to 2.6 meters. Gorilla DNA is 96 to 99 percent similar to human DNA depending on what is included in the comparison. The two species live in the tropical forests of equatorial Africa, their ranges separated by the Congo River and its tributaries, occupying habitats from sea level to montane forest at 4,300 meters.
