Nandinia

Nandinia is a genus of carnivoran mammals containing a single living species, the African palm civet (Nandinia binotata), also called the two-spotted palm civet, distributed widely across sub-Saharan Africa from Guinea to South Sudan and south to Angola and eastern Zimbabwe. It is the sole member of both the genus and the family Nandiniidae, and its distinctive genetic isolation has led it to be placed in its own superfamily, Nandinioidea, separate from other feliform carnivores. It inhabits deciduous forests, lowland rainforests, gallery forests and riverine woodlands up to about 2,500 meters elevation, and is assessed as of least concern by the IUCN.
