The central lar gibbon, Hylobates lar entelloides, is a subspecies of the white-handed lar gibbon, formally described by Isidore Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire in 1842. It is endemic to Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand, where it lives in dense forest with abundant vegetation that both shelters it and supports its characteristic brachiation, swinging arm over arm through the canopy to cover long distances efficiently. The subspecies is classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
