The giant leaf-tailed gecko is a lizard endemic to Madagascar, one of the larger members of its genus with a snout to vent length of about 20 centimeters and a total length of about 32.2 centimeters. The species was only formally described in recent years and its accessible documentation remains thin; its appearance beyond size and its specific habitat are gaps left for the depth wave.
