The giant leaf-tailed gecko is a lizard endemic to Madagascar, one of the larger members of its genus with a snout to vent length of about 20 centimeters and a total length of about 32.2 centimeters. It is classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. The species was only formally described in recent years and its accessible documentation remains thin; its appearance beyond size and its specific habitat are gaps left for the depth wave.
