Other Minor Phyla

This subcategory gathers members of small invertebrate phyla too minor in this atlas's holdings to warrant a subcategory of their own, grouped here rather than left under a vague catch all label. It includes comb jellies (Ctenophora), ribbon worms (Nemertea), arrow worms (Chaetognatha), acorn worms and related pterobranchs (Hemichordata), thorny headed worms (Acanthocephala), water bears (Tardigrada), velvet worms (Onychophora), and several other microscopic or rarely encountered lineages such as rotifers, gastrotrichs, loriciferans, priapulids, and placozoans. Each of these phyla is anatomically distinct from the others and from every other group in this atlas, sharing only a small body size and a minor share of the described invertebrate world. A member is placed here when its own phylum has too few entries in the atlas to justify a dedicated subcategory, not because its classification is uncertain.
