Rutaceae, commonly known as the rue or citrus family, is a family of flowering plants in the order Sapindales comprising about 160 genera and over 1,600 species ranging from herbs to shrubs and large trees. Its flowers typically divide into four or five parts and are usually strongly scented, and its leaves and fruit carry clear glands that release a citrus aroma when crushed. The genus Citrus, including orange, lemon, grapefruit, and lime, is by far its most economically important member.
