African Tulip Tree

Spathodea campanulata, the sole species in its genus, is commonly known as the African tulip tree or Nandi flame, a tree growing between 7 and 25 metres tall that is native to the tropical dry forests of Africa and was first identified by Europeans in 1787 on the Gold Coast. Widely planted as an ornamental throughout the tropics for its showy, bell-shaped reddish-orange or crimson flowers, it has been named among the hundred worst invasive species in the world.
