Agave fourcroydes

Agave fourcroydes, commonly known as henequen, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to southern Mexico and Guatemala. It is commercially cultivated, particularly in eastern Mexico, for its fibrous leaves, which yield the fiber also called henequen, used as a raw material for rope, twine, and other products. Like sisal agave, this species is a sterile hybrid that cannot be grown from seed, and instead propagates vegetatively through bulbils and suckers, with cultivation typically relying on sucker propagation.
