Armeria maritima, known as thrift, sea thrift or sea pink, is a species of flowering plant in the family Plumbaginaceae. It is a compact evergreen perennial that grows in low clumps and sends up long stems topped with globes of bright pink flowers, occasionally purple, white or red, and it has been distributed worldwide as a popular garden and cut flower, well suited to xeriscape and rock gardens. Its Latin specific epithet, maritima, means pertaining to the sea or coastal.
