Bearded Dragon

Bearded dragon, or informally beardie, is the common name for Pogona, a genus of eight lizard species found throughout much of Australia in environments such as deserts and shrublands. The name refers to the underside of the throat, or beard, which can turn black and inflate in response to stress, threat or an attempt to entice a mate. Bearded dragons are semiarboreal, spending significant time on branches and in bushes near human habitation, and they are diurnal, basking on rocks and exposed branches in the morning and afternoon and sleeping at night; their diet consists mainly of vegetation along with some insects.
