Agamidae is a family of iguanian lizards, often called dragons or dragon lizards, native to Africa, Asia, Australia and a few parts of southern Europe, comprising 582 species across 64 genera. Members share acrodont teeth set on the outer rim of the jaw rather than in sockets, are generally diurnal with strong legs, and unlike many lizards cannot fully regenerate a lost tail. The genus Draco has ribs modified into gliding wings, and familiar members include the bearded dragon, the Chinese water dragon and the Uromastyx spiny-tailed lizards.
