Black Bread Mold

Rhizopus stolonifer, commonly known as black bread mold, is a member of Zygomycota and is considered the most important species in the genus Rhizopus. It is one of the most common fungi in the world, with a global distribution though it is most often found in tropical and subtropical regions, and it is a common agent of decomposition in stored foods. Like other members of its genus, R. stolonifer grows rapidly, mostly in indoor environments.
