A phylum of mostly fast-growing, filamentous molds that reproduce via spores formed inside a rounded sporangium rather than an ascus or basidium, including many common bread and fruit molds. Mucoromycota also includes fungi that form arbuscular mycorrhizal partnerships with plant roots, among the most widespread symbioses on land.
