The black swan is a large waterbird, a species of swan that breeds mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. It is a large bird with black plumage and a red bill. Within Australia it is nomadic, with migration patterns that shift depending on climatic conditions. It is a monogamous breeder, and both partners share incubation and cygnet-rearing duties.
