Blood ark, Lunarca ovalis, formerly classified in the genus Anadara, is a species of clam in the family Arcidae, the ark clams, found along the Atlantic coast of North America from Massachusetts south to the West Indies and Brazil. It lives from the low-tide line down to about ten feet of water, and like other ark clams it is unusual among bivalves for carrying hemoglobin in its blood, the trait that gives the species its common name.
