Common greenshank

The common greenshank, Tringa nebularia, is a wader in the family Scolopacidae, the typical waders, that breeds in the subarctic across northern Europe and the Palearctic from northern Scotland eastward. It is migratory, wintering in Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and Australasia, typically on freshwater habitats. The bird is recognized by its long greenish legs and a slightly upturned bill with a grey base, showing brown plumage in the breeding season and grey brown plumage in winter, and it feeds on small invertebrates, fish, and amphibians. It is listed as Least Concern and is protected under the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds.
