Deadly Galerina

Deadly galerina, Galerina marginata, also called the funeral bell, is an extremely poisonous mushroom in the family Hymenogastraceae, with a small brown to yellow-brown cap one to six centimeters across, brownish gills and a thin membranous ring on the stem that makes it easy to mistake for edible species. It grows on decaying conifer wood across the Northern Hemisphere, Europe and Australia, and contains the same lethal amatoxins found in the death cap, which shut down RNA polymerase II in liver cells and can cause fatal liver and kidney failure within a week if untreated.
