The eastern hemlock, Tsuga canadensis, also called Canadian hemlock, is a coniferous tree in the pine family, Pinaceae, native to eastern North America, where it grows across the Great Lakes region, the Appalachian Mountains, the Maritimes and the northeastern United States. It has also been introduced as an ornamental tree in the United Kingdom and mainland Europe, and it is the official state tree of Pennsylvania.
