Elysia chlorotica is a small-to-medium-sized species of green sea slug, a marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusc. Though it superficially resembles a nudibranch, it does not belong to that clade, instead belonging to the sap-sucking sea slug clade Sacoglossa; it lives in a subcellular endosymbiotic relationship with chloroplasts taken from the marine alga Vaucheria litorea, a phenomenon called kleptoplasty that gives it the nickname the solar-powered sea slug.
