Snails and slugs: the largest and most diverse class of mollusks, typically with a single coiled shell (though many lineages have reduced or lost it), a broad muscular foot, and a distinctive rasping feeding organ called a radula. Gastropoda has colonized marine, freshwater and terrestrial habitats more successfully than any other mollusk class.
