Golden Apple Snail

Golden apple snail, Pomacea canaliculata, is a large freshwater snail with gills and an operculum, an aquatic gastropod mollusk of the family Ampullariidae, the apple snails, native to South America. Introduced widely across Asia, the Pacific and elsewhere, often originally for the aquarium trade or as a food crop, it has become one of the world's most damaging invasive species, ranked among the world's worst invasive alien species and considered the worst alien gastropod established in Europe, where it devastates rice paddies and other wetland vegetation.
