Giant African Land Snail

Lissachatina fulica, commonly known as the giant African land snail, is a large land snail that shares its common name with other large African species such as Achatina achatina and Archachatina marginata but is itself the most frequently occurring invasive snail species in the world. Outside its native range it thrives in many mild climates, feeding voraciously on agricultural crops and native plants, spreading plant pathogens and human disease, competing with native snail species and becoming a nuisance in urban areas; it is a federally prohibited species in the United States, where it is illegal to sell or possess.
