The Egyptian giant solpugid (Galeodes arabs), also called the giant sun spider or camel spider, is an arachnid of the order Solifugae and family Galeodidae, and one of the largest camel spider species, reaching about 15 centimeters in length. It has large, powerful jaws that reach a third of its body length, and while it has no venom its bite can be painful. It can move at speeds up to 16 kilometers per hour. It is native to North Africa and Western Asia, and is nocturnal, hunting at night to avoid predators and the heat of the day.
