The Hawaii silversword, also called hinahina, is a plant endemic to Hawaii, found only on the high volcanic slopes of Haleakala on Maui and Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii. Its two geographically separated populations are both rare and federally protected, with the Mauna Kea population reduced to as few as forty individuals in the wild.
