Icterine warbler

The icterine warbler is an Old World warbler in the family Acrocephalidae, part of the tree warbler genus Hippolais. It is a fairly large warbler for its family, with a big head, a broad based bill, long wings and a short tail, greyish green upperparts and uniformly light yellow underparts. It breeds across mainland Europe from northern France and Norway through most of northern and eastern Europe, and its entire population winters in sub-Saharan Africa, mostly south of the equator. It favors woodland edges and glades with well spaced trees and tall undergrowth, though it also uses orchards, parks and gardens. It feeds mainly on insects gleaned from foliage, adding fruit to its diet in late summer.
