The Killarney fern, Vandenboschia speciosa, also known by its synonym Trichomanes speciosum, is a species of filmy fern found widely but sparsely across western Europe, most abundantly in Ireland, Great Britain, Brittany, Galicia, the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores, with additional scattered populations in France, Spain, Portugal and Italy. It is considered a relict species, once far more widespread before climatic shifts during the Tertiary and Quaternary periods restricted it to its current fragmented range.
