Kirk's Caecilian

Kirk's caecilian is a limbless, worm-like amphibian of the family Scolecomorphidae, known as the buried-eyed caecilians because their eyes lie beneath the skull's covering bone or skin rather than sitting in an open socket as in other caecilians. It is found in the highland forests of Malawi, where it burrows through moist soil and leaf litter. Like many caecilians, it is rarely encountered and much of its basic biology remains poorly documented.
