Maldive Anemonefish

The Maldive anemonefish (Amphiprion nigripes), also called the blackfinned anemonefish, is native to the western Indian Ocean, found around the Maldive and Laccadive Islands. It is rusty orange with a single white stripe just behind the eye and, as its common name suggests, black pelvic and anal fins; females reach up to 11 centimeters and males about 8 centimeters. It typically lives in small groups on outer reef slopes at depths of 2 to 25 meters, closely associated with the magnificent sea anemone, and feeds on zooplankton, small bottom dwelling crustaceans, and algae. The IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
