Northern Giant Horsetail (Equisetum braunii) is a horsetail native to western North America, ranging from southeastern Alaska and western British Columbia south to California and inland to Idaho, mostly in coastal regions. It was formerly treated as a subspecies of the European horsetail Equisetum telmateia, and some authorities still classify it that way. It is often called simply giant horsetail, though that name is also used for the Latin American species Equisetum giganteum and Equisetum myriochaetum.
