The Pacific kauri is a conifer in the family Araucariaceae, among the largest and fastest growing species in its genus, native to Fiji, Vanuatu, and the Santa Cruz Islands, where it grows in humid lowland and lower montane forest. It reaches up to 40 meters tall with a trunk up to 3 meters in diameter, mottled shedding bark typical of kauris, glossy elliptical leaves 7 to 15 centimeters long, and globular female cones 8 to 13 centimeters wide. The IUCN Red List classifies it as Vulnerable, and it is a valuable timber species across the Pacific.
