Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense is a fungal plant pathogen that causes Panama disease of banana, also known as Fusarium wilt. The fungus and the disease it causes have put widespread pressure on banana-growing regions worldwide, destroying the economic viability of several commercially important banana varieties.
