The Philippine pangolin is found only on the island of Palawan and its surrounding smaller islands in the Philippines, making it one of the most range-restricted pangolin species. It resembles the closely related Sunda pangolin but is somewhat smaller, and it forages both on the ground and in trees for ants and termites using its long sticky tongue. Confined to a small area and targeted heavily by poachers supplying the scale trade, it is classified as Critically Endangered.
