Poecilotheria metallica, known as the peacock tarantula or Gooty sapphire tarantula, is an Old World tarantula species and the only blue-colored member of its genus, marked by an intricate fractal-like pattern on its abdomen. Native to a small area of deciduous forest in Andhra Pradesh in central southern India, it is classified as Critically Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
