The Red Sea clownfish (Amphiprion bicinctus), also called the two-banded anemonefish, is found through the western Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, Socotra, and the Chagos Archipelago, sheltering in reef environments and shallow lagoons. Males reach about 10 centimeters and females about 14 centimeters, the body ranging from yellow orange to dark brown with two white bands edged in black. It associates with five species of host sea anemone, including the bubble tip and magnificent sea anemones, feeds on algae and zooplankton, and breeds in strict dominance hierarchies in which only the top pair reproduces. The IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
