The Sao Tome caecilian is a limbless, often bright yellow amphibian, family Dermophiidae, found only on the island of Sao Tome off the coast of West Africa, where it burrows through soils from lowland rainforest to coconut plantations. It is notable as the only known caecilian species that follows Bergmann's rule, with individuals living at higher, cooler elevations on the island's volcanic slopes growing larger than those at lower elevations.
