The Sarawak kauri is a medium sized conifer in the family Araucariaceae endemic to Borneo, growing up to 40 meters tall with a large, straight trunk and globular crown, in tropical rainforest and kerangas forest on hills and plateaus. Its leaves range from oval to nearly circular, about 2 by 3 centimeters, and its deep brown bark flakes off in irregular reddish brown backed pieces. The IUCN Red List classifies it as Endangered, citing its scattered distribution and declining habitat quality.
