The satanic leaf-tailed gecko, also called the eyelash or phantastic leaf-tailed gecko, is a small lizard endemic to Madagascar, growing to no more than about 90 millimeters in total length. It has an eyelash-like projection above each eye and a flattened, leaf-shaped tail, sometimes notched to further mimic a decaying leaf, and its coloring ranges through purple, orange, tan and yellow or mottled brown with small black dots on the underside. It lives in the northern and central tropical forests of Madagascar as an arboreal animal that depends on this camouflage.
