Shining Clubmoss

Shining clubmoss, Huperzia lucidula, is a lycophyte, a fern ally rather than a true fern, of the family Lycopodiaceae native to the forests of eastern North America, where it grows as a low evergreen plant with glossy, densely packed leaves that give it its common name. Unlike many of its relatives, it does not produce spores in a distinct cone-like structure, instead bearing them in the axils of ordinary leaves along the stem, and it reproduces vegetatively by producing small leafy bulbils that detach and grow into new plants.
