Standing's day gecko is an arboreal, diurnal lizard endemic to the arid southwest of Madagascar, found around Andranolaho and Sakaraha and in Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park. It is among the largest living day geckos, reaching a total length of 20 to 25 centimeters, with coloring that shifts with light from brownish grey to bright green or turquoise with grey to blue reticulated markings. It lives in thorn forest vegetation and is classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, threatened by collection for the illegal pet trade and by habitat loss.
