The sulphur tuft, scientifically Hypholoma fasciculare and also known as the clustered woodlover, is a common woodland mushroom often found when few other mushrooms are present. This saprotrophic gill fungus grows prolifically in large clumps on stumps, dead roots, or rotting trunks of broadleaved trees.
