Trichinella spiralis is a live bearing nematode parasite found in rodents, pigs, bears, hyenas, and humans, and it is the cause of the disease trichinosis. It is often called the pork worm because people are usually infected by eating undercooked pork, and although its name and effects are sometimes confused with the pork tapeworm, the two are only distantly related.
