Trichoderma

Trichoderma is a genus of fungi commonly found in soil worldwide, valued economically for two very different reasons: several species are effective biological control agents that attack and suppress plant-pathogenic fungi in the root zone of crops, while others are cultivated industrially as a source of cellulase and other enzymes used to break down plant material, including in biofuel production. Most species are fast-growing and readily identified in culture by rapidly spreading colonies bearing green spores.
