Two-toed Sloth refers to the two living species of the genus Choloepus, xenarthran mammals from Central and South America within the monotypic family Choloepodidae, sometimes also called two-fingered sloths. Linnaeus's two-toed sloth and Hoffmann's two-toed sloth were formerly believed on the basis of morphological studies to be the only surviving members of the sloth family Megalonychidae, but molecular results have since shown them to be closest to the extinct ground sloths of the family Mylodontidae.
