Ulva Lactuca

Ulva lactuca, known as sea lettuce or broadleaf sea lettuce, is an edible green alga in the family Ulvaceae and the type species of the genus Ulva. It grows as a thin, flat, green to dark green blade made of two irregularly arranged cell layers, typically reaching about 18 centimeters in length though sometimes more, attached to its substrate by a small disc-shaped holdfast. It has a worldwide distribution across the coasts of Europe, North America, Central and South America, Africa, the Indian Ocean islands, southwest Asia, China, the Pacific Islands, Australia, and New Zealand, commonly growing on rocks and other algae in the littoral and sublittoral zones.
