The viviparous eelpout, also known as the viviparous blenny and European eelpout, is a species of marine ray-finned fish in the eelpout family Zoarcidae. It is notable for being ovoviviparous, giving birth to live larvae rather than laying eggs, and is a common soup ingredient in Mediterranean countries. Its bones have a greenish color from a harmless pigment, and its slimy skin varies in color.
