Anthocerotopsida is a class of non vascular land plants, commonly known as hornworts, within the division Anthocerotophyta. The common name refers to the elongated, horn shaped sporophyte. As in mosses and liverworts, hornworts have a gametophyte dominant life cycle, in which the flattened green plant body seen day to day is the gametophyte stage, carrying only a single set of genetic information.
