Cubozoa is a class of cnidarian animals, commonly known as box jellyfish, distinguished by their box shaped bodies. Some species produce potent venom delivered through contact with their tentacles; stings from species such as Chironex fleckeri, Carukia barnesi and Malo kingi are extremely painful and can be fatal to humans, while others, such as Carybdea murrayana, deliver a painful but non fatal sting.
