Carukia barnesi is an extremely venomous box jellyfish found in waters near Australia. Its sting can cause Irukandji syndrome, and the species is commonly known as the Irukandji jellyfish, though that name does not distinguish it from other Irukandji jellyfish such as Malo kingi.
