Bradypodidae

Bradypodidae is the three-toed sloth family, in the order Pilosa, suborder Folivora, containing a single living genus, Bradypus, whose name means slow-footed in Greek. Molecular studies place the family within the sloth superfamily Megatherioidea, of which it is the only surviving lineage, and it comprises five living species, the brown-throated, maned, pale-throated, southern maned, and pygmy three-toed sloths. Three-toed sloths are arboreal Neotropical mammals with three clawed toes on each limb, short tails, and greenish fur colored by algae growth that provides camouflage in the canopy; unusually among mammals they have nine cervical vertebrae rather than the typical seven.
